Jelgava Local Municipality is situated in the southern part of Latvia, close to its Capital city Riga and borders with the Republic of Lithuania.

Jelgava Local Municipality consists of 13 small rural municipalities – parishes. Total number of inhabitants 25 213. Territory – 1317 km2.
The larger and smaller rivers – Lielupe, Sesava, Vircava, Platone, Svēte and others – like blood vessels permeate the plains of municipality. The forests breathe quietly. Manors and palaces hold legends filled with ancient tales and secrets, assigning a tenor of nobility and profoundness. The spacious fields embrace the horizon. Each gaze in the distance, as if reaches the edge of the earth.
In summer ears of heavy grain bow their heads, the air is filled with an earthy scent and the joy of the farmers labour and harvest. There is a reason it is called the “granary” of Latvia, agriculture is one of the most significant businesses in Jelgava Local Municipality. The municipality’s main values are weaved with the help of colours into the logo: blue – represents the Lielupe waters and its tributaries, green – nature and traditional agriculture, gold – family, people and working habits. Jelgava Regional Tourism information centre. Centre is a municipal institution that was founded on the 1st of September, 2010. The goal of the institution is to promote tourism and cultural education in the Jelgava city and surrounding areas.
